Mark Reisig

Mark Reisig has over 40 years of experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), digital transformation, information technology, and engineering, helping global manufacturers define, rationalize, and execute PLM strategies across complex, multi-system environments.

About

His interest in sustainability began nearly five decades ago, through an early focus on globalwarming and renewable energy. Throughout his career, his work has been grounded in understanding how the use of technology and data impacts people—optimizing processes, enabling more effective collaboration, and improving how organizations operate.

Mark’s early career in the late 1970s and 1980s centered on CAD and plant design, which led to early involvement in asset management, what are now known as digital twins, and Product Data Management (PDM). These experiences formed the foundation for his work in PLM and later expanded into digital thread initiatives, connecting product, process, and operational data across the lifecycle.

Over the course of his career, Mark has led digital initiatives across PLM, plant design, CAD, and master data management (MDM) for global businesses, helping organizations improve data consistency, integration, and decision-making. More recently, this has extended to the application of AI and advanced analytics to improve the quality and speed of engineering and business decisions.

He has held executive and senior management roles at Aras, General Electric, Oracle, Auto-trol Technology, and Kraft Heinz, leading initiatives in PLM, engineering systems, and enterprise data management across complex, global environments.

A consistent theme throughout his work is that successful PLM initiatives require alignment across people, processes, and data, particularly in organizations shaped by acquisitions, legacy systems, and fragmented data.

In his current role, Mark primarily provides consulting services around PLM strategy across industries including aerospace and defense, automotive, heavy industry, high-tech electronics, energy, and medical devices. His work includes digital thread, digital transformation initiatives, and digital twin enablement, helping organizations modernize product development and lifecycle processes.

Within his Sustainability and Green Energy practice, Mark focuses on enabling sustainability through PLM. His work includes supporting clients in reducing product carbon footprint, designing more sustainable and eco-friendly products, and embedding sustainability into PLM business strategies and enabling technologies across the full lifecycle, including supply chain strategies and digital product passports. This includes end-of-life considerations such as eliminating waste, increasing recyclability, and enabling the reuse and repurposing of materials and assets. He also evaluates emerging technologies and advises companies on how to transform to meet the demands of a net-zero future.

Mark is a frequent speaker at conferences and has published numerous articles and blogs on sustainability, embedding AI within PLM, digital thread, and digital twin, and the role of data and technology in improving business outcomes.
