The conference paper “A PLM Vision for Circular Economy” written by Sofia Freitas de Oliveira & António Lucas Soares redefines PLM due to the shift from the mass production model to a new paradigm of personalized, on-demand, customer-centric, and knowledge-based production.

In doing so, the authors highlight the growing concerns around sustainability and circular economy, which require improved products that can be used for longer, with multiple life cycles.
