PLM Green Announces Participation of CIMdata and Mark Reisig

The PLM Green Global Alliance (PGGA) enthusiastically announces that CIMdata Executive Consultant Mark Reisig will be participating in our PLM Green initiative with the support of CIMdata, the leading global Product Lifecycle Management strategy consulting and research firm.

PLM Green’s nonprofit-like mission is to educate, advocate, and collaborate across the boundaries of technical disciplines, different industries, and international borders to advance the use of PLM in the transition to a sustainable decarbonized circular economy. As a result, the PGGA’s five core research themes include examining the intersection of PLM with: Sustainability, Green Energy, Circular Economy, Climate Change, and Life Cycle Assessment.

Mark, who is CIMdata’s Sustainability and Green Energy Practice Director, will be sharing his widely-respected career experience and special expertise in PLM-enabling strategies, technologies, software, and implementations. Mark will serve as lead moderator and curator in the coverage of PLM & Green Energy and as co-moderator of PLM & Sustainability with PGGA co-founder Jos Voskuil.

Mark previously shared his thoughts about the intersection of PLM and Sustainability, including why it is important to him both professionally and personally, in an interview earlier this year hosted by Jos which can be viewed HERE.

Jos recently commented, “I too am excited that Mark is joining our volunteer effort as a moderator for the topics of sustainability and green energy. Given his deep knowledge of PLM, experience with the energy industry, and environmental values we are confident he will be able to not only coach but more importantly inspire PLM professionals across the globe, many who are following members of PLM Green.”

The PGGA was established in 2020 in the U.S. by Richard McFall and in the E.U. by Jos Voskuil. Their motivation as PLM industry veterans was to create a non-commercial international community and collaborative network comprised of working professionals, educators, consultants, researchers, analysts, retirees, and students who shared a common interest in both PLM and leaving behind a sustainable economy and planet for future generations. Since then a number of other notable PLM professionals have contributed directly and indirectly to the initiative, and over a thousand now follow our activities by email and social media.

Richard commented “While the daily news about the impact of climate change on people and the planet can be distressing, there is growing good news from many organizations that are making sustainability an internal business priority and not just seeing it as an external market opportunity. We at the PGGA are excited to collaborate with such a well-respected PLM consultancy like CIMdata and their consultant Mark Reisig, both of whom share our commitment to a green economy.” Richard went on to say, “I fully expect that the use of PLM in creating greener products and sustainable processes will be the most important use case of PLM we will see in our careers. And one we can all be proud to have participated in directly instead of sitting on the sidelines hoping and waiting for others to act.”

Jos and Mark, along with the other PGGA theme moderators, will soon be sharing their plans for 2024 when we can expect to hear about discussion forums, case study examples, SME interviews, conference presentations, webinars, and cooperative events with other groups. To stay informed, follow our news on the  PLM Green website and then join the PLM Green LinkedIn discussion group.

Additional information and references for how PLM can contribute to sustainability can be found on the PLM Green website resource pages. We invite readers and followers to submit their own news, examples, questions and topics for coverage by email to info@plmgreenalliance.com. As a collaborative open group with no cost to participate, we welcome the ideas, insights, and opinions of volunteer contributors, as it will take all of our actions, large or small, to manifest a more sustainable planet.
